Description

RS Oph provided a rare naked-eye nova in the constellation Ophiuchus when it exploded on the 9th August. Although it is 5000 light years away, the blast is bright enough to see with the unaided eye after sunset. Having been blessed with one the best runs of clear nights with good seeing in years, I have been starting the imaging run each night getting some reference images in Clear before trying more exposure time in RGB each night. This was from 8x3 minutes subs in each filter of RGB. As much as I would like to think the green ring is the accretion disk,  sadly it is probably a known reflection issue with the extra objective in the 127is Petzval system. As long as the weather holds I will continue picking up more reference images in clear. Tonight I will move the star off-center to see if it is a reflection artefact.
